With wildfires becoming more deadly worldwide, fire management agencies and traditional peoples are com-bining their expertise to reduce the risk of catastrophic landscape fires and
support cultural practices.

This report examines the emergence of collaborative – or “intercultural” – fire management between professional fire managers and traditional and Indigenous Peoples in California, Guatemala and Brazil. It summarizes scientific studies on the increasing threat posed by wildfires worldwide, and the fire practices of Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
